US Army SERE School - Psychology Technician (Human Factors Risk Management

Job Summary: The Army SERE program Psychology Technician provides human factors risk management expertise for SERE training operations to ensure a safe and effective training environment. They monitor pre- and post-academic laboratory exercises and role-playing scenarios, provide consultation and interventions with students, and other tasks under the guidance of a licensed SERE psychologist. These positions are contingent on the award of a government contract. Responsibilities: Participate in the psychological monitoring of all pre- and post-academic laboratory exercises to ensure that the students are within acceptable levels of stress inoculation. Provide crisis interventions to students on an as-needed basis and make psychological-based recommendations to oversight personnel regarding students' capabilities to safely continue training and achieve successful training outcomes. Conduct group psychological debriefs of students following pre- and post-academic laboratory exercises. Provide consultation to students in a one-on-one capacity during "office hours" at the approximate midpoint of the course. Administer and score psychological tests in individual and group settings. Participate in the presentation of Human Factors Annual Training to instructors and government cadre. Conduct behavioral health history review of incoming students' medical records. Provide administrative support for psychologists in M6 identifier training following their completion of the SERE training course. Observe academic role-playing labs in the classroom. Assist in psychological research data collection and data entry. Actively participate in continuing education and training including completing an established training plan, participating in an ongoing self-study course consisting of a SERE Psychology reading list, participating in quarterly Human Factors section training, and attending working groups and site visits. Required Skills and Experience: US Citizen DoD SECRET clearance Graduate of a DoD full spectrum SERE - C course including Wartime, Peacetime Governmental Detention (PDG) and Hostage Detention (HD) training OR be able and willing to attend and complete this training. Training may be from a singular course or multiple courses as long as training in all skillsets has been completed. Complete government provided psychological evaluation and be "fit" to perform duties in support of this contract ** this is a government rendered determination ** BA degree in psychology or a related field, or commensurate level of training (e.g., military mental health technician, psychiatric technician, or mental health program assistant), and at least one (1) year of experience working in a behavioral health setting or capacity. Ability to work shift-work/variable hours, including weekends and holidays, in austere training environments. Desired Skills and Experience: Previous work experience in a DoD SERE Level C program in a psychology-related capacity Previous work experience in an aviation or SOF organization in a psychology-related capacity (ie embedded Psych Tech) Required Background Check: Secret Clearance; comprehensive employment background screening.
